A stable company with a record of strong financial performance and history of being actively involved in local communities WHAT YOU’LL DO Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives Manage the development, implementation and evaluation of programs designed to reduce risks and minimize losses associated with employee safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, property damage, environmental issues, occupational health and security.
Ensure that the Sturgis Plant is in compliance with all applicable Corporate, Federal, State and local Environmental, Health and Safety laws and regulations.
Major Responsibilities Responsible for the overall coordination of the safety, industrial hygiene, security, environmental and occupational health programs at the Sturgis Plant in correlation with Division, Corporate and legal guidelines.
Responsible for assuring the Sturgis Plant is in compliance with all applicable Corporate, Federal, State and local Environmental, Health and Safety laws and regulations.
Responsible for interfacing with applicable regulatory agencies and building and maintaining cooperative relationships.
Responsible for providing leadership and direction to management and to professional, technical and support staff regarding EHS&S issues.
Responsible for providing a safe and healthy work environment for all Sturgis Plant employees and for protecting the surrounding community and environment from hazardous exposures.
Responsible for providing timely, high quality training on EHS&S topics to all levels of employees.
Responsible for auditing the plant’s EHS&S programs to identify areas for improvement and assuring follow-up with any deficiencies.
Responsible for assuring all new equipment, processes, acquisitions, procedures, materials, chemicals, etc are acceptable relative to EHS&S standards.
Responsible for the overall coordination of Emergency Response activities for the site.
Direct Reports 4 Exempt employees EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING Education Minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree, Environmental, Occupational Health or Safety areas is preferred, or a bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field Background Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for Environmental, Health and Safety with 5-7 years experience working in the EHS&S field.
Knowledge of Michigan laws a plus.
Accountability / Scope / Budget Position is responsible for plantwide compliance with all applicable EHS&S laws and regulations as well as the security of the facility.
Responsible for interacting with a variety of regulatory agencies, Division and Corporate personnel as well as all levels of plant employees.
Responsible for managing the budget associated with the EHS and Security.
